“I didn’t think I would ever be doing that at my age” – Tim Vail Hails Squash Super League Opportunity

Tim Vail proved that age is just a number last week as he picked up an eye-catching win on his first Optasia Squash Super League appearance for the table-topping Chichester Centurions.

At 47 years old, Vail was the oldest player to have competed in the Squash Super League this season when he took to court in the Club Hero match against the Bristol Buccaneers last Friday evening.

The Englishman, a runner-up at the British Over 35s Open last year, exacted revenge on the winner that day, James Snell, with a clinical 11-7, 11-4 victory in front of a sell-out home crowd at the Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club.

“I didn’t think I would ever be doing that at my age. I think I’m the oldest person to have played in the league this season,” Vail said as Centurions maintained their spot at the summit of the inaugural table.

“I’m really pleased to be playing for my home club, where I coach, and to get a point on the board for the team [Chichester Centurions].

“It’s nice to see the crowd full and have everyone cheering and shouting for you. We’ve got such a good home crowd here, and it’s a great atmosphere.”

The Optasia Squash Super League continues next Friday (21st March), as all six teams continue their quests for the inaugural title.

Play from all three matches will get underway from 19:00, with every second of action available to watch LIVE and for FREE on SQUASHTV.
