Squad: Breakdown

Leading the way for the Bexley Ballers will be the electrifying presence of Mazen Hesham, who is currently sat a career-high rank of World No.5. Known for his creative shot-making and unpredictable style of play, Hesham has dazzled Bexley members in previous leagues and will return to thrill them once again as the team’s top-ranked male player.

Joining Hesham is British No.1 Georgina Kennedy, the club’s very own Commonwealth Games champion and current World No.7. Despite having been a member at Bexley for several years, the SSL will be the first opportunity for many of the fellow members to watch Kennedy in action for the club since her meteoric rise up the women’s world rankings.

French duo Baptiste Masotti and Camille Serme will also be lining up for the Bexley Ballers this season. Masotti will add yet another superb shotmaker to their ranks, while Serme, nicknamed ‘La Panthère’, will bring vast experience as a former World No.2 and winner of multiple Platinum events on the PSA Tour.

Backing up these stars are a number of homegrown talents, including Dylan Roberts, Jack Mitterer and Isabel McCullough, all of whom train daily at Bexley Lawn, Tennis and Squash Club and will represent the team in the U25s category.

Rounding out the squad are Ben Ford and Chris Tomlinson, two club legends of Bexley and two figures who will add an extra layer of experience to the Bexley Ballers’ team, which has a wealth of local talent at its core.

Inspiring The Next Generation

Speaking ahead of the inaugural Squash Super League season, Bexley Ballers team manager Ben Ford said:

“We’re really excited to be competing in this year’s SSL and to showcase our squad to our members at an elite level.

“Having so many homegrown players gives our younger members something to aspire to, as well as the opportunity for our members to go on court with world-class players during our coaching clinic.”

The SSL will also become the first squash league to be broadcast live on SQUASHTV, enabling a number of the club’s homegrown talent to be seen in action across all corners of the globe.

On this exciting opportunity that lies ahead, Ben added:

“It’s great for the players, especially for the younger ones who don’t normally get a chance to play on SQUASHTV, and it’s obviously good for our sponsors as well. It will hopefully get them all plenty of exposure.

“Hopefully, we can get some good viewing numbers and that will help the league grow in strength year on year.”

“We’d love to win the title, obviously, but the main aim is to bring top quality squash to our members and then for away matches to the opposing team’s members. I think bringing great squash to the clubs is what the SSL is all about. I think we’ve got a good, strong team, and we’ll have a good shout of winning the title.”
