Leamington Royals v Crawley Magik

Club hero Owain Taylor got the home team off to the perfect start, with the Welshman claiming a comfortable 11-5, 11-4 win over Magik’s Diego Pita.

The winning momentum continued into the second match of the contest, with Ben Smith edging past Heston Malik in 25 minutes. Smith, who took home the victory, was put under considerable pressure from Malik, who refused to let up in the second game, pushing his opponent to the very end with Smith taking the win 11-6, 11-10.

The women’s match followed in a similar pattern to the previous team encounters. With World No.32 Lucy Turmel proving too much for her opponent, Lowri Roberts , as she was able to win in straight games, 11-6, 11-7.
In the final contest of the night, Magik’s George Parker started the stronger of the two, shocking the home crowd as he was able to take the first game 11-9. However, his lead was short-lived, as the recently retired Parker allowed his compatriot to grow into the contest and level the scoring, as James won the second 11-7. As the game progressed, it seemed that James was able to put the contest to bed, as he went on to clinch the third and final game 11-8.

St George’s Hill Knights v Chichester Centurions

St George’s Hill Knights maintained their place at the top of the standings after a hard-fought victory over Chichester Centurions, having to come back from behind to win the contest 3-1.

The Centurions made a strong start to the tie, with club hero, Noah Meredith, clinching the opening match of the night in a tightly-contested bout against St George’s Hill legend Miles Jenkins. Meredith was able to give his team the advantage, winning the match 11-9, 11-9.
The Centurions’ lead was short-lived on the night, as the Knights’ Rhys Evans was able to help his team bounce back with a straight games victory over British and English BU19 Junior Champion Dylan Roberts, winning 11-5, 11-10.

In the third contest of the night, Knights Georgia Adderley staged an impressive comeback against the Malaysian Sivasangari Subramaniam, winning in a sudden-death tie-break third game to help her team secure the victory.

The World No.6, who took the lead in the opening game, winning 11-9, seemed unable to maintain her strong start. In the second, the Malaysian No.1 allowed her opponent to come back into it in a dominant manner, winning 11-4, and with momentum in favour of the Scottish No.1, Adderley was able to build on this form and clinch the third in nailbiting fashion, taking the game 11-10.

In a blockbuster final match of the evening, World No.5 Joel Makin was able to muscle his way past an in-form World No.18 Gregoire Marche in straight games. The Welsh No.1, seemed to be sharp and looked fresh on the court, proving too much for the Frenchman on the night, as he was able to seal the tie for the knights, winning 11-4, 11-6.
