Optasia Squash Super League – January 10: Preview & How To Watch Live

The Optasia Squash Super League returns this Saturday, with the St. George’s Hill Knights looking to maintain their winning start to the season against defending champions Leamington Royals.

After defeating Bristol Buccaneers away from home on the opening night of the season, the Knights return to action at St George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club as they look to inflict a first-ever defeat on the Royals, after the latter lifted the coveted title last year.

Play from Weybridge gets underway from 17:00, with every second of action available to watch LIVE and for FREE on SQUASHTV. Full replays of all four matches will also be available on the England Squash YouTube Channel.

St. George’s Hill Knights v Leamington Royals

The men’s match between the Knights and Royals will see England teammates Declan James and Patrick Rooney go toe-to-toe on court. Former Commonwealth Games medallist James last year proved the hero for the Royals after he saved Championship Ball in the deciding rubber of the Grand Final against Curtis Malik, before coming through to see his team lift the inaugural title after a thrilling win.

Rooney, meanwhile, will be hoping to make it two wins from two outings on the Squash Super League after edging out former World No.1 Mohamed ElShorbagy in a tense battle on the opening night of the season.

The women’s match of the evening will see Japanese No.1 Satomi Watanabe return to action for Leamington Royals against England’s Alicia Mead. World No.6 Watanabe has enjoyed another stellar season on the PSA Squash Tour, recently defeating World No.3 Amina Orfi on her way to a semi-final appearance at the Hong Kong Open. World No.57 Mead, meanwhile, will be hoping to deliver in front of the home crowds at St. George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club.

England rising stars Asia Harris and Olivia Besant will go head-to-head in the women’s U25 match, before Charlie Lee will be hoping to extend his winning start to the season against Owain Taylor. England’s Lee, a local favourite in Weybridge, opened up his campaign with an impressive two-game win over Buccaneers Club Hero Jared Carter.

With the Knights well-placed in second spot in the table after an opening night win over Bristol Buccaneers, they will be hoping to open up daylight at the top of the table with victory in front of their home fans. For the Royals, meanwhile, the chance to extend their unbeaten run in the Squash Super League awaits.
