England Squash has announced the Optasia Squash Super League, a ground-breaking team competition featuring some of the world’s top ten players, will begin on Friday 15th November.
The league will bring together some of the best players from around the world in an innovative, high-octane format designed to captivate fans at home and abroad.
Optasia, the title sponsor of the prestigious PSA Squash Tour Gold-level event, the ‘Optasia Championships’, will expand their footprint in the sport with a new role as the title sponsor of the league. Adidas, a global powerhouse in sportswear, will provide teamwear and refereeing clothing for the league.
With six elite teams representing clubs from across England – the Bexley Ballers, Bristol Buccaneers, Chichester Centurions, Coolhurst Cavaliers, Leamington Royals and St George’s Hill Knights - the league will showcase a tantalising blend of world champions, upcoming stars as well as local club heroes.
World-renowned stars set to light up the league include current World No.3 Hania El Hammamy, World No.4 Paul Coll, British No.1 Georgina Kennedy and 49-time PSA Tour winner and former World Champion Mohamed ElShorbagy.
Fans can look forward to seeing these household names and future stars battle it out over six action-packed nights between November and May, followed by a finals night in June bringing the inaugural season to a thrilling climax.
The league will offer a fast-paced ‘best-of-three’ scoring format, enhanced by a sudden-death scoring system, creating a fresh, edge-of-your-seat spectacle that will redefine team squash.
It will also become the first squash league to be broadcast live and for free on SQUASHTV – the PSA’s streaming platform – enabling fans from all four corners of the globe to experience the drama and excitement of every match.
